The uncovering of that evil may have coincided with the arrival of Uncle Charlie, but it was always there - or at least the capacity for it. I appreciate my movies to be serious but some of these horror films seem to intentionally not take themselves seriously and I can appreciate that since I find humor in it.Asked to summarize the overall theme of Shadow of a Doubt, Hitchcock offered: "Love and good order is no defense against evil.” Hitchcock shows us that, even in the American suburban home of the idyllic nuclear family, there is a sickness of evil lurking beneath the surface. I looked it up later and I guess it's more of a black comedy than outright serious horror film but that's fine with me since I find humor in these things. Like Scream, I was laughing within the first 5 minutes of it just because the girl went from being slightly creeped out by a guy on the phone to flirting with him and lying about having a boyfriend and carrying on a conversation with him until he threatens her. I remember having nightmares for a week as a kid thanks to the werewolf Goosebumps episode and as such it soured me toward horror films all these years but now I'm watching them mostly to laugh.

I'm looking for Halloween and Friday the 13th now. I've never been a horror fan up for the all the years of my existence but playing the new games Friday the 13th and the PC port Dead By Daylight has made me want to watch all the classics.

Just watched Scream and Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time. I might even bolster It up to a 5, but that remains to be seen. Really Superb acting from all 5 of the near first-time actresses, wasn't really expecting that either. I expected It to be emotional, but I wasn't expected It to be so intense.

It's a beautiful tale of people who are free spirits, but want the Emotional Justice of breaking away from their trapped "lives." The way It was crafted was with such Orgasmic Joy, you can literally feel tenderness and love drench from the screen whether our protagonists are playing near the beach, are at a football game, or just having fun in their bedrooms. The way it was directed and shot was so simplistic, yet rich. I'll have to give it some time for all 4 to really sink in to give you my honest opinion, 'Son of Saul' might need a 2nd viewing.īut If I had to tell you what I thought of one of them.
